
On June 9, 2025, the 131th lecture of the Think Tank Construction Lecture Series of the Middle East Studies Institute (MESI) of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) was held at Hongkou Campus. Professor Huang Minxing of the Institute of Middle East Studies at Northwestern University was invited to give a lecture titled Main Features of the Construction of the Iraqi Nation-State in the Post-Saddam Era.
The lecture was hosted by Professor Ding Jun, Director of the MESI at SISU. Researchers including Associate Professor Chen Yueyang of CARC, Yu Yong, Ding Long, Niu Song, Qian Xuming, Han Jianwei, Bao Chengzhang, Wen Shaobiao and Zhao Jingof the MESI at SISU, as well as graduate students and international students attended this lecture.
Professor Huang Minxing systematically sorted out the historical and practical background of the construction of the Iraqi nation-state in the post-Saddam era, and analyzed in depth the main features and evolutionary trends of the construction of the Iraqi nation-state from the dimensions of politics, economy, society and culture. After the lecture, he also had an interactive exchange with the students and teachers on the future development of Iraqi nation-state construction.

Director Ding Jun summarized the lecture, saying that the lecture was intellectual, professional, academic and rational, rich in content, profound in analysis, and inspiring for the in-depth development of country studies in the Middle East region, and expressed his gratitude to Professor Huang Minxing for his wonderful lecture and the active participation of the teachers and students present.
