Abstract:The year 2022 may have left a strong mark in the diplomatic history of Saudi Arabia, whose strategic importance has been increasingly highlighted by the global energy shortage and the shifting geopolitical landscape caused by the escalation of the Ukraine crisis in February 2022. Driven by nationalist ideology, Saudi Arabia defied the pressure from the US and the West, took full advantage of the strategic gaps left by the great power game, actively expanded its diplomatic space, and implemented a diversified and balanced flexible foreign policy, which was quite eye-catching in the international arena for a while.
