Abstract:On March 10, 2022, under Chinese mediation and auspices, Saudi Arabia and Iran, the archrivals of the Middle East, held a dialogue in Beijing and agreed to restore diplomatic relations. According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, Saudi Arabia and Iran will reopen their embassies and representative offices within two months, arrange for the exchange of ambassadors, and revive bilateral cooperation agreements signed in 1998 and 2001.
