INTRODUCTION
The situation in the Middle East region in 2020 presents a more chaotic and disorderly situation, and is highlighted by the continued disorder in relations between major powers, alternative reorganization of regional forces, continued stalemate and more complex hotspot issues, traditional security and non-traditional security issues linkage and other complex situations. The crisis in the Middle East region in 2020 is a dual crisis of national governance and regional confrontation and conflict.
The Middle East Regional Development Report (2020-2021) is organized into four parts to explain these issues. The first part is the Ambassador's Feature, which is an overview of the hot issues in the Middle East in 2020. The second part is on the regional situation, which focuses on the overall situation in the Middle East region in 2020 and the sub-regional situation in West Asia and North Africa, and makes a study on the development of the Middle East situation in 2021. The third part focuses on the development profiles of relevant representative countries and organizations: first, 13 West Asian and North African countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Israel, Turkey and Egypt are selected for country-specific interpretations on politics, economy and foreign relations in 2020; second, the development dynamics of more active organizations such as the OIC, the Arab League and the GCC are focused on. The fourth part is a look at the new crown pneumonia epidemic in the Middle East: first, it examines the issue of Palestine under the resistance and epidemic in the Islamic world from a global perspective; second, it examines the epidemic and social development in large, small and war-torn countries in the region, such as Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, and Yemen.
