On August 27, Hossein Mirzaei, Director of the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Iran, visited the Middle East Studies Institute of Shanghai International Studies University, accompanied by Yousef Hojjat, Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in China, Cheng Tong, Dean of the Oriental Language Institute and Jawad, Iranian alumni of Shanghai International Studies University.

Professor Sun Degang, Vice director of the Middle East Studies Institute, chaired the discussion. Staff members of the Institute, Niu Song, Yu Yong, Qian Xuming, Zhang Yuan, Han Jianwei and Zou Zhiqiang attended the meeting. Professor Sun Degang conveyed greetings from Professor Liu Zhongmin, director of the Middle East Studies Institute, and introduced the research fields of the institute. Director Mirzaei introduced the development path of the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Iran. This time marks the second visit of the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Iran to the Middle East Studies Institute of Shanghai International Studies University. Both sides exchanged views on the education cooperation between China and Iran, the Iranian situation under the US sanctions and Iran’s foreign relations.
