Lecture 120 of the Think Tank Construction Series “Current Crisis in Gaza: Impacts and Trends” Successfully Held

On the morning of November 9, 2023, the 120th lecture of the Think Tank Construction Lecture Series of the Middle East Studies Institute (MESI) of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) was held at Hongkou Campus. Yahia H. Zoubir, the Non-Resident Senior Fellow of the Qatar Council for Global Affairs in the Middle East, was invited to give a lecture titled Current Crisis in Gaza: Impacts and Trends.

The lecture was hosted by Professor Ding Jun, Director of the MESI at SISU.Researcher Zhang Yuan participated in the conversation. Han Jianwei, Shu Meng as well as graduate students and international students, attended this lecture.

In the lecture, Professor Zoubir reviewed the background and causes of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, taking time as a clue, and analyzed the positions of the G7 and China on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Finally, he pointed out that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is long-term and complex, and the Gaza area is currently facing a serious humanitarian disaster.


During the conversation, Researcher Zhang Yuan said this report systematically demonstrated the historical lineage of the formation of the Gaza crisis. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is more than a purely regional conflict, and has a broad impact on the global situation.

After the lecture, Professor Zoubir and Researcher Zhang Yuan also interacted with the teachers and students present on the impact and evolutionary trend of the Gaza crisis, and answered their questions in detail.

Finally, Director Ding Jun summarized the lecture and expressed his gratitude to Professor Zoubir for his excellent lecture and Researcher Zhang Yuan for her wonderful comments, as well as to all the teachers and students for their active participation.
