On the morning of December 9, 2023, the 122nd lecture of the Think Tank Construction Lecture Series of the Middle East Studies Institute (MESI) of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) was held at Hongkou Campus. Mustapha Marchrafi, Professor and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences, Mohammed V University, Morocco, was invited to give a lecture titled China-North Africa Relations: History, Present, and Challenges?
The lecture was hosted by Professor Ding Jun, Director of the MESI at SISU. Researchers including Shu Meng, Han Yuxin, as well as graduate students and international students attended this lecture.
During the lecture, Professor Mustapha Marchrafi firstly reviewed the long history of friendly exchanges between China and North African countries, and analyzed the current geopolitical challenges faced by China and North African countries. Finally, he pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative is conducive to strengthening the mutually beneficial partnership between China and North African countries, and that building the Belt and Road with high quality is of great significance for consolidating the achievements of existing economic cooperation and effectively promoting China-Africa cooperation and regional development.
