AbstractAfter Saudi Arabia's “Vision 2030” was put forward, its diplomatic strategy showed a more positive and enterprising trend, and the focus of its diplomatic strategy shifted from focusing on the region to giving consideration to both the region and the world. Saudi Arabia regards Indonesia as a priority partner for Southeast Asian countries based on a combination of improving Islamic world leadership, promoting economic diversification and increasing regional and global influence. At present, the exchanges and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia have shown a trend of multi-path parallelism. The two sides promote mutual trust through political interaction, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results through economic and trade cooperation, consolidate religious ties through Hajj cooperation, consolidate the foundation of bilateral relations with people-to-people exchanges, and build a solid security barrier between the two countries through security cooperation. Although some progress has been made in the relations between the two countries, however, the factors such as the realistic geographical environment and diplomatic tradition, the low institutionalized cooperation mechanism, the occasional labor friction, the still not fully open business environment and inconsistent business preferences have restricted the continuous deepening of the relations between the two countries. As an important node country of China's “Belt and Road Initiative” initiative, the expansion and deepening of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia has injected development impetus into the peace and stability of the region, which is in line with China's long-term interests.
