INTRODUCTION

This book provides an in-depth and systematic study of the historical evolution, ideological system, organizational structure, regional distribution, operational methods, and political and social impacts of global Islamic extremism. It reveals how Islamic extremism distorts and misuses the core values of Islam and summarizes international experiences and lessons in de-radicalization. The book is divided into two volumes. Volume I focuses on macro-level comprehensive research, key issue studies, and case studies of typical extremist organizations. Volume II examines Islamic extremism and de-radicalization efforts in regions such as the Middle East, South Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe, as well as in countries like Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia, Somalia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Russia, and the UK. The book holds significant theoretical value in understanding the nature of Islamic extremism and practical value in learning from international de-radicalization experiences to safeguard China's national sovereignty, security, and developmental interests.
